East-West Integrated Healthcare and Sylvan Learning Center of Anthem Announce
New Monthly Health Lecture Series for Kids and Parents
-- Series Seeks to Help Parents and Children in Anthem, New River, Carefree and North Phoenix Areas Achieve Health and Wellness Goals--

Anthem, AZ, April 16, 2008East-West Integrated Healthcare and Sylvan Learning Center of Anthem announced today that they are launching Natural Pediatrics with Dr. Don, a new health lecture series to help teach parents how to keep their children healthy and happy.
Natural Pediatrics with Dr. Don is a series of free monthly educational gatherings that will educate parents on safe alternative, integrative, and natural therapies when treating your child and when to use prescription medications.

The series features Dr. Don Underwood, doctor of naturopathic medicine (NMD) and adjunct faculty of Southwest College of Naturopathic Medicine, who will lead discussions on a wide range of health topics.

“How many times have you taken your child to the doctor only to have them hand out prescription medication?  Sometimes prescriptions are warranted, but many times there are alternatives available that are less toxic, and have fewer, if any, side effects.  As parents we are inundated with messages and advice on alternative therapies.  This lecture series will allow parents to walk away knowing safe and effective treatments to many common pediatric complaints allowing children to achieve health without drug therapy in many cases.”

Natural Pediatrics with Dr. Don series begins in May with a session on the proper nutrition and supplementation for your child throughout his or her childhood. All lectures are free and open to the public on Thursday evenings.

The complete lecture schedule includes the following topics:

  • May 22: Alternative Therapies for ADD / ADHD, Asperger’s, & Autism
  • June 19: You are what you eat:  Healthy eating for your child throughout life
  • July 17: Food Sensitivities and Allergies:  Is your child’s favorite food making him sick?
