Payment Policies/Insurance
We will be clear to you about costs. You will never have to guess. Generally payment is expected at the time of your visit. But, we will never turn you away because you cannot pay that day. We can make payment options available to you.
Currently, East West Integrated Healthcare does not accept health insurance. However, we file the necessary paperwork with your insurance provider so that you may receive reimbursement. Naturopathic Doctors are considered Out of Network Primary Care Physicians and generally up to 80% of our fee is reimbursed by PPO plans. Insurance companies generally reimburse for services rendered, but not for supplements, medicinary items or experimental lab testing. This office cannot accept responsibility for charges not covered by an insurance plan or that an insurance plan deems not medically necessary.
| East West Integrated Healthcare operates on a cash basis. Our patients are responsible for payment at the time our services are rendered. The practice accepts cash, check and credit/debit cards. |

About Our Fees
Dear Patient:
Your fee is based on the time we spend with you during your visit, the complexity of your medical condition, and any treatment we provide. But proper attention to your care also requires that the doctors, or members of our staff, spend additional time beyond that which we spend with you in the office. Such time may be used to:
- Create or maintain your permanent medical record.
- Review, interpret, and document all lab test results and communicate those results to you.
- Research, review and manage your case.
- Review current X-ray or scan reports, compare them with reports of previous scans, and when the studies are abnormal, consult with a radiologist.
- Prepare and mail consultation reports and letters suggesting patients come in for a follow-up visit.
- Consult via phone about your case with referring or consulting physicians and other health care providers.
- Prepare referral letters to additional specialists, as needed.
- Prepare patient educational materials.
- Conduct medical research relevant to your case.
- Conduct utilization review negotiations with hospitals and insurance companies.
- Draft letters of necessity to obtain medical services, instruments, or prescriptions that you need.
All these activities add to our cost of doing business. Still, we are committed to providing you the best possible care at the lowest cost. We hope this explanation of our fees has been helpful. With you, our patient, we look forward to a lasting and healthy relationship.
Sincerely,
Jennifer Calvo, NMD and Don Underwood NMD, L.Ac.
Your Annual Appointment
Established patients will be recalled for a comprehensive one-hour visit every year. For women receiving gynecological care, this visit includes the annual pelvic and breast exams, pap smears, etc. For patients over 50, this includes a chemistry screen, CBC and urine analysis every other year. We use this time to review changes in weight and habits. We plan supplements and medications and when appropriate we renew prescriptions for the coming year.
